Mr. Antrim's Classroom Website
A special thanks to The Association of Professional Engineers and GeoScientists of BC (APEGBC) & McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. for kindly donating thousands of popsicles sticks and a complete class set of glue. This donation will allow two of our classes at Foothills to create popsicle bridges that can be entered into the Annual Popsicle Stick Building Bridge Contest on March 21st at Pine Center Mall.
Once again our class and Mrs. Madsen's class will participate in a bridge construction unit. The unit will be one week long and will start on Monday March the 16th and wrap up on Friday March the 20th. Students will learn about bridges and build their very own popsicle stick bridge. Students will then be able to compete in the Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Contest that takes place on Saturday March the 21st at Pine Center Mall. Participation in this event is optional and parents will need to plan for supervision and transportation of their children if students want to compete. All instructions and information needed to enter the contest is located here. Mr. Antrim will fax in any entry forms for students as long as they are handed in by Thursday March 19th. Otherwise you can register the day of the event between 11:00 & 11:45 at the event located by the food court. Have fun and remember, prizes will be given out to the bridges that hold the most weight and the best decorated bridges. Below is one example of how to make a popsicle stick bridge. However, there are many different designs on the internet, feel free to create something different.
